Health at Idlehurst
Health class is an opportunity for students to acquire the skills and knowledge to build a foundation to live a health enhancing life. Students will develop skills in a wide variety of healthy behaviors. Covered content will include, Nutrition and Physical Activity, Personal Health, Social/Emotional Health and Safety. Expectations are that students will show Safe, Respectful and Responsible behaviors in class.
Trimester One Goals
Kindergarten
-Students will describe how different foods and help a person stay healthy
-Students will describe how being physically active helps a person stay healthy
-Generate examples of physical activity that are personally enjoyable
-Select a variety of foods that are healthy snacks
1st Grade
-Students will describe the benefits of eating healthy snacks
-Describe the benefits of being physically active
-Describe the health benefits of drinking water compared to other drinks
-Describe the importance of physical activity, rest and sleep
2nd Grade
-Students will explain the importance of eating different foods from all food groups
-Classify foods into groups
-Describe the characteristics of foods that should be limited
-Generate different enjoyable physical activities
-Students will describe how different foods and help a person stay healthy
-Students will describe how being physically active helps a person stay healthy

PE at Maple Wood
Physical Education is a space where students can continue to enhance the physical, social and emotional skills that they've already started to develop. Students have the opportunity to get moving and have fun while learning skills that will help lead to a lifetime of healthy and physical activity. Expectations are that students will show Safe, Respectful and Responsible behaviors in class.
